Situation
We began working with a leading methane abatement and renewable fuels business in early 2025 to lead a comprehensive strategic planning process.
A two‑day executive retreat created the space to reflect on the past year, align on long‑term ambition and define the focus areas that would guide the next 12 months.
Additional sessions with the organisations General Managers ensured delivery alignment, with mid‑year and end‑of‑year reviews helping the organisation stay focused, responsive and connected to its strategic intent.
Approach
To deliver this work, we designed a highly collaborative strategic planning process.
This included:
- Collaborating with executives to design a detailed two‑day retreat agenda.
- Creating a pre‑work exercise pack to gather executive perspectives ahead of the retreat. This enabled deeper, more efficient discussions on the day.
- Facilitated the two‑day workshop, guiding the team through key learnings from the previous year, priority focus areas for the year ahead, measures of success and required enablers.
- Producing a comprehensive workshop summary pack and working with the executive to refine the 2025 strategic plan.
- Running a similar planning process with group leaders to translate the strategy into delivery expectations.
- Facilitating a mid‑year review to assess progress, identify risks and determine required pivots.
- Delivering an end‑of‑year review to capture achievements and lessons to inform the next planning cycle.
Key Outcomes
We focused on building clarity and alignment across the organisation, demonstrated through:
- A clearly defined 2025 strategic plan outlining focus areas, objectives and key initiatives and alignment across strategic growth pillars.
- A strong line of sight from the executive through to delivery teams on expectations for the year.
- Consolidated insights from pre‑work, retreat discussions, and leader workshops into a structured summary pack.
- Mid‑year review outputs highlighting progress, challenges, and priority adjustments. Plus, end‑of‑year insights capturing achievements and lessons learned.
