Service: Culture Development / Industry: Renewable Energy

Situation

 Evolve partnered with a fast-growing energy services company to uncover the values that truly reflect its people. Through reflective workshops and guided conversations, staff explored their culture, aspirations and the behaviours that enable high performance. Together, we refined themes, tested language and shaped a values framework that feels authentic, meaningful and ready to guide the way forward.   

Approach

 A tailored, co‑design methodology ensured the values were grounded in staff insights and organisational aspirations. We: 

  • Designed and facilitated a two‑hour reflective workshop exploring current culture and desired identity.​
  • Guided discussions on strengths, improvement areas, and behaviours that define high performance.​
  • Synthesised workshop insights into high‑level value and behaviour options.​
  • Facilitated a second session to refine themes and identify resonant overarching words.​
  • Used a structured voting process to select preferred value groupings.​
  • Circulated a draft values framework for final feedback and refinement.

Outcomes

The process produced a clear, practical, and co‑created set of organisational values supported by behavioural descriptors. This included: ​

  • Co‑designed company values aligned to the company's identity and aspirations.​
  • Behavioural descriptors developed to guide expectations at all levels.​
  • Values made visible across the workplace through signage and communication tools.​
  • Introduced quarterly values‑based review sessions to embed behaviours.​
  • Provided facilitation support to maintain alignment and cultural momentum.

Impact

The values have become a central pillar of AR Energy’s cultural evolution, strengthening alignment, accountability, and performance across the organisation. The values, and accountability mechanisms, have created:​

  • Strong staff ownership - clear, shared expectations for behaviour and performance​
  • Improved alignment, communication, and accountability across teams.​
  • Values actively used in decision‑making and performance conversations.​
  • Quarterly reviews driving continuous improvement and cultural maturity.​
  • Strengthened high‑performance culture and enhanced employer brand.​
  • Positioned AR Energy as an employer of choice and emerging industry leader.
